POSITION SUMMARY The Recess and Lunch Monitor oversees students during lunch and recess, promoting safe, positive, and inclusive environments where every child feels valued and supported.
REPORTS TO: Principal
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Supervise students during lunch and recess to ensure safety and respectful behavior.
- Monitor playground and cafeteria areas to maintain a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
- Support students in resolving conflicts calmly and respectfully.
- Report incidents or concerns to the appropriate school staff promptly.
- Reinforce school expectations, rules, and routines during transitions.
- Encourage positive peer interactions and inclusive play.
- Assist students with needs during lunch, such as opening containers or finding seats.
- Maintain orderly lines and smooth transitions between lunch, recess, and classrooms.
- Observe and address unsafe behaviors immediately.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support a safe and welcoming school environment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS – Required qualifications to effectively perform job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- Associate's Degree is preferred.
- Substitute teaching, CPS, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and certification are preferred.

- Required to occasionally move objects weighing up to 30 pounds around the workspace.
- Requires travel to multiple work sites within the District using reliable, personal transportation.

- Exposed to moderate noise levels.
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 188 Days 10:40am-1:00pm M-F
Part Time: 8-10 hours per week
Education: Training and/or experience in supervision of students is desirable.
Experience: Experience working with children is preferred.
Compensation: District provides its staff with competitive pay.
Benefits: Not Eligible.
FLSA: Non-Exempt.
Work Calendar: 10 month position, part-time, Monday - Friday.
