The School District of Clayton is seeking an Early Childhood Special Educator. The qualified individual will support and instruct early childhood students both inside and outside the classroom. Candidates need to enjoy young children, have high energy, and be a team player. This position is part time.
The Successful Candidate:
- Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize learning for each child, individually and in group settings
- Participates in IEP conferences as necessary
- Attends and participates in team and Family Center staff meetings as necessary
- Provides learning support for students in individual and group settings as directed by early childhood special education staff and classroom teachers
- Assists students with daily routines and activities such as making social connections, participating in learning activities, navigating transitions, playing, eating, toileting and assisting with additional personal care needs
- Maintains confidentiality
- Collaborates and consults with early childhood special education staff and classroom teachers to assist students in the classroom and outdoor spaces
- Assists classroom teachers in general daily classroom activities
- Provides behavior support to students
- Cares for students’ physical safety and emotional well being
Individuals with one of the following qualifications are now eligible to be an instructional paraprofessional:
- 60 college credit hours
- Associate’s degree or higher
- Missouri ParaPro Assessment passing score (before September 23, 2013)
- Missouri Paraprofessional Assessment passing score (after September 23, 2013)
- Completed Missouri’s 20-hour online substitute training program
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
Certification: Eligible for and obtain a Missouri substitute certificate.
Experience: Preferred.

Work Calendar: 20 hours per week, ten month position, 192 day calendar
